Egidio Pratesi started manufacturing leather products immediately after the Second World War, when thanks to the explosion of the cinema and the movie industry he got a job as a costume designer and tailor during the shooting of a movie called "Quo Vadis".
This has been an insightful and motivating experience so that immediately after the shooting of the movie ended he started working on his own as an artisan and established the label "Pratesi".
He was working a few minor leather goods at first and slowly but surely expanded to manufacture briefcases, travel bags and handbags.
With this calculated expansion, Pratesi‘s method of working with leather was constantly perfected and his products became top quality.
The company was handed from father to son for three generations in half a century, and people are as thrilled today as in the past to be able to have at least one of the leather goods made by the famous Pratesi.
The owners have always known how to make sure that what leaves their workshops if of the highest quality, a reason for which the Pratesi brand is one of Italy’s best when it comes to leather items.
