Hubert de Givenchy is a french designer who had and extraordinary fascination for the fashion world from a very early age.
As he later told the story, he visited the World’s Fair that took place in Paris when he was only ten and what really amazed him was the Pavilion of Elegance, a place where 30 models of France’s top Couture houses were exposed.
He came home with an impression that would change the rest of his life. That’s when he decided that he would do anything to become a fashion designer himself and participate in these events with his own collections.
His dream eventually came to life in 1952 when he opened his first fashion store. It was an instant success.
An important step in Givenchy‘s evolution was taken in 1953 when Hubert met Audrey Hepburn, and event that led to a long lasting friendship. The young actress became Givenchy’s ambassador over the ocean, a partnership that helped both of them.
