Fendi’s Carmina Campus Launches a Recycling Project in Africa
Over the years, we’ve seen many fashion designers get involved in various humanitarian projects meant to help those in need. The first that comes to mind is the Product(RED) campaign supported among others by Giorgio Armani and Converse. Fornasetti

The best way to describe Piero Fornasetti is as an extraordinary visionary, with a talent that could rival even the greatest artists of the Renaissance.

He was a designer but he was also an artist. His interests in the world of art were extremely diversified.

His creations were sold in specialty shops and department stores throughout the world, bringing his playfully colored creations to all those who knew what quality is.

Piero FornasettiHe spent most of his life in Milan where he got his first job at the age of twenty two. From 1935 to his death in 1988, Fornasetti established a totally unique style in the fashion world that got him an extraordinary reputation.

The uniqueness of his style came from the talent that he had in combining illusionism, architectural perspectives and some leitmotifs like the sun flowers, playing cards and even fish. From this, he continuously created variations that were more and more complicated.

The array of objects for which he applied this style is astonishing. Just to mention a few, you can find the Fornasetti style on hats, coats, chairs, pianos, plates and even ocean liners. Their simple, modest appearance was transformed by the application of unexpected images.

As he once said, these are "fashion items that will never go out of fashion"

Piero Fornasetti in 1983His good old friend and partner Gio Ponti said about Piero: "He makes objects speak". And yes, Fornasetti did make voiceless objects speak. Who would have dared to draw an image with a girl's Lace, split down the middle, on a plate?

Take a look at this selection of Fornasetti clothing accessories. They clearly present the very unique traits that made Piero such a great fashion designer.
