Fendi’s Carmina Campus Launches a Recycling Project in Africa
Over the years, we’ve seen many fashion designers get involved in various humanitarian projects meant to help those in need. The first that comes to mind is the Product(RED) campaign supported among others by Giorgio Armani and Converse. If you look at my previous post on this blog (which was a long long time ago, [...]

Coccinelle

Coccinelle is a benchmark Italian fashion designer who is slowly but surely taking an important place in the eyes of fashion enthusiasts around the world.

Coccinelle stands for ‘ladybug’ in Italian and the message the brand want to send across to women is collaboration and kindness, wile doing both with irresistible charm.

The Coccinelle fashion firm was founded in 1978 in Parma from where it runs its business to this day. With a chain of over 50 stores in Italy and all over the world, it is one of the fastest growing fashion firms in Italy.

Experience, precision, attention to details, quality and simplicity are the attributes that Coccinelle strived to convey over the last three decades and that is the reason why it’s grown to be an icon of Italian design and elegance.

The range of Coccinelle handbags, shoes and accessories continues to expand, with four collections being presented every year.

Coccinelle Goodie Bag

Coccinelle Goodie BagFrom its birth, Coccinelle always looked for ways it could use exclusive and luxury items to help those in need. Its most successful attempt at this was the launch of the 'Goodie Bag' which was specially designed to raise funds for the Francesca Rava Foundation.

With a reasonable affordable price of $150, the popularity of this bag helped build "Casa per Piccoli Angeli" (House for Little Angels) in Haiti, which was opened in September 2008. It is the first rehabilitation centre in Haiti, providing help to thousands of physically or mentally disabled children that would otherwise be abandoned.

What was done here is in the spirit of the Coccinelle woman, a modern woman who is enterprising, communicative, altruistic and chicly cosmopolitan.

The Goodie Bag was re-launched in a Spring-Summer version and ten percent of all money earned from it will be donated to the foundation to pay Casa per Piccoli Angeli’s fees.

Coccinelle handbags by Barbara Hulancki

Coccinelle has created an exclusive collection of bags with the help of the trend-setting designer of the 70s: Barbara Hulancki. She is the name behind BIBA, the famous London boutique which opened its doors in 1967 and was the place where Brigitte Bardot, Raquel Welch, Yoko Ono, Mick and Bianca Jagger, Jack Nickolson, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie and many other musicians, artists, actors and models used to do their shopping.

She lent her unique style to this new collection, available only at Coccinelle stores and selected outlets. The limited edition collection ranges from a chic bowling bag to an ultra flat shopper, a fold over clutch bag and an oversize shopper, a tote and a purse with a shoulder strap.

Coccinelle HandbagsThe materials used for the new collection are retro velvet and sporty nylons. The Art Deco inspired print was typical of BIBA in its golden age and is the true protagonist of these bags, enhanced by their linear styling.

The palette features colors that relive the spirit of the 70: from a mix of plums and dusty pinks to black and cream, dark blue and grey.
